Ukumbi is a Non-Profit organization founded by two African women with the focus of transforming communities through socio-economic empowerment. MAKERERE UNIVERSITY

Established in 1922 as a humble technical school, Makerere University is one of the oldest and most prestigious Universities in Africa. In January of that year, the school, which was later renamed Uganda Technical College, opened its doors to 14 day students who began studying Carpentry, Building and Mechanics.

The College soon began offering various other courses in Medical Care, Agriculture , Veterinary Sciences and Teacher Training. It expanded over the years to become a Center for Higher Education in East Africa in 1935. IUIU

The Islamic University in Uganda was opened in the year 1988 by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) under a bilateral agreement between the Government of Uganda (GOU) and the OIC. In 1990, the Parliament of Uganda enacted a law, The Islamic University in Uganda Act (cap 131, Laws of Uganda), formally establishing the University in Uganda. The University operates under the framework of this Act. The University opened on 10th February 1988 with 80 students and two degree programmes. Currently, we have over 120 accredited programs, 8 Faculties and a student population of over 10,000 coming from 21 different countries. AFYA

The Afya Foundation collects unused medical supplies and equipment from throughout the New York metro area and gives them a second life. Domestic regulations require that enormous volumes of supplies must not be reused. As a result they are destined for local landfills. We ship these critical materials to under resourced and compromised health systems all over the globe thereby improving access to healthcare, the quality of care delivered, and the retention of local providers.

Our model recognizes that each hospital, government and clinic faces disparate public health conditions. Relying on a cadre of volunteers to sort and pack rescued supplies in order to ship individually tailored shipments to local partners, Afya provides a forum for local communities to contribute globally. Our capacity to meet immediate humanitarian needs in places devastated by natural disaster, public health crises or international conflicts while simultaneously implementing long-term programs to address chronic health disparities is critical to our future success. MILCOT

Midwife-led Community Transformation (MILCOT) is a charity organization registered by Uganda Registration Service Bureau in August, 2018 as company limited by guarantee to carry out its charitable activities in all parts of the Country. MILCOT’s major aim is to bridge the gap that exists between the midwife and adolescents, youths and the local people, hence contributing to prevention of maternal and child mortality and morbidity where by midwives act as educators, counselors, researchers, leaders and advocates.

TECH FOR CHANGES

Tech for changes found “ Tech for Changes.net” in 2021 to provide girls and non-binary students worldwide quality computer science education.
